Physical activity and self-esteem in young college students: a systematic review

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this research was to describe the relationship between physical activity and self-esteem in young university students.

Methodology: As methodology, the PRISMA statement was taken into account, considering the databases Web of science, PsycINFO and PubMed. The keywords used were: physical activity, self-esteem and university students. After the selection of the documents according to the determined criteria, the final sample consisted of 30 scientific articles.

Results: The main results of the research found emphasize the importance of physical activity and its positive influence on the self-esteem and mental health of young university students. Conclusions: Self-esteem and physical activity are factors that should continue to be promoted and strengthened in sports and education.
