Objective: to relate the variables of cognitive deterioration with the perception of quality of life in active older adults.
Materials and Methods: we evaluated (n: 160) older people (8 men and 152 women) who performed different kinds of physical exercise three times a week, with the seniority of 1 year. The State Mini-Mental Examination (MMSE) and Quality of Life (SF- · 36) tests were used.
Results: The study shows that 95% of the subjects evaluated have an optimal quality of life, in the cognitive impairment parameter only 11.2% were in the normal category and 88.8% had some deficit. The correlations obtained in the study in relation to the quality of life of older people show us a relationship of cognitive deterioration (p: 0.0009), which shows us the significant relationship between these variables.
Conclusions: The importance of systematic physical exercise is fundamental in the maintenance of good categories of Cognitive Impairment parameters and self-perception of quality of life despite the aging process. In addition to presenting a relationship between both variables.
