Measuring lower body in Young wáter polo club Medellin

Objective: To identify the status of lower limb power in juvenile water polo athletes and present a field test as a proposal for the eggbeater kick.
Methodology: A population of 38 athletes aged between 14 and 18 years from the Medellín club was included in a descriptive-cross-sectional quantitative study. Lower limb power was assessed using the Sargent test, which was also used as the Gold Standard for intra-instrument correlation with the proposed field test (AR) eggbeater kick.
Results: A mean of 2.73 meters was obtained for the Sargent test with a variance of 0.016 meters and a median of 1.20 meters for the (AR) eggbeater kick test, with a minimum range of 1.05 meters and a maximum range of 1.40 meters. A Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.795** was obtained for the intra-instrument correlation.
Conclusions: Regarding lower limb power, athletes are above average. Due to the high and positive correlation, the AR Eggbeater Kick Test is presented as a timely instrument for assessing lower limb power in water polo players.
