Abstract

Purpose: to analyze the relationship between the percentages of fat, the lower limbs and abdominal resistance of the power of the surfers with the ranking position in the amateur surfing championship of the city of Santos, São Paulo, Brazil.

Methodology: This study analyzed Santos city athletes, they are between 12 and 16 years old, average 14 years of surfing amateur category, the athletes had a good position ranking of Santos city amateur surfing championship of 2019.

Results: The percentage of fat and abdominal resistance were predictors of better placements in the ranking (p?0.05). And body composition has a significant correlation with muscle power tests (r 0.79 and 0.81).

Conclusion: A higher non-ranking placement predicts fat percentage hair and abdominal resistance test performance. A lean muscle mass was an indicator of how well we performed vertical and horizontal jumps.
